• About the Author
  Hale Humphrey-Jones, Ph.D, LPCMH, NCGC, has a full-time private practice, providing counseling for individuals and couples.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health in the State of DE. 

  Dr. Humphrey-Jones also works with individuals and couples who are coping with gambling issues in the State of Delaware. As a nationally certified gambling counselor, she also provides training for the DE Council on Gambling Problems, and has presented to the National Conference on Problem Gambling and to the National Forensic Counselor’s Association. 

  Dr. Humphrey-Jones teaches psychology and communication at Wilmington University and Wesley College.  She holds two master’s degrees, one in counseling psychology and one in communication, as well as a Ph.D. in family studies. 

  Hale has recently begun a new seminar business entitled J2 Seminars.  Her latest e-book, Love Wars, about relationships is available free on her website www.j2seminarsplus.com.   J2 Seminars will offer its first workshop in October, 2008 for baby boomers.  The seminar is entitled:  Boomers:  Re-energize your relationships.

  I hope you will enjoy this work.  Most of all I hope you will learn how to win without creating pain. Over my many years of practice as a mental health counselor, I discovered that I learned the most from listening to my client's issues, particularly the ways in which they managed their differences.  Very early in my career I realized that communication was a critical key to relationships.
  
  Consequently, after obtaining a master's in counseling psychology, I obtained a second master's in communication, specializing in conflict management.  When I finally managed to make it to my doctoral studies, I designed a program that incorporated family relationships, psychology, and communication.  This has been the foundation upon which I focused my counseling practice.
  
  Love Wars is not based on any scientific research, nor is it designed to be read by professionals as a text.  Love Wars is a culmination of over 25 years of listening to couples, combined with my own personal mistakes-of which I have made many.
  
  Clearly, I have also been strongly influenced by Sun Tzu.  Therefore, many of the strategies and rules have evolved from his well known work The Art of War.  His major premise is that winning without fighting is the key to any successful conflict.  While conflict is inevitable, it is best to mobilize that conflict toward growth and constructive change, rather than the devastation that can easily occur.
