About the Author
I believe that I was very fortunate to be born and raised in little Italy in Brooklyn, New York. There was then and is still a sign in the road that says “Welcome to the Biggest Little City in the World." Three weeks after I was born, I was delivered to my grandmother. She had nine children, and I made number ten. Where were my mother and father at this time in my life? Well, that is another story, and someday I'll finish my memoirs even though I haven't made it past the first page for 10 years now!
I have traveled extensively through the United States at one time or another, including three countries in Europe. Although I was very bad in spelling, I have always had a love of writing as far as I can remember. The places I write about in my novels The Brass Ring and the Eleventh Commandment take place in the Brooklyn of my youth. The characters are a composite of people I once knew and some I have heard of through stories told at family gatherings.
Some of the areas have long since been torn down in the name of progress.
Besides my family, I really have had two loves in life. I did not start with the intention to write; it just happened. My second love hit me when I was about 9 years old, prior to World War 11. My uncle who was at that time a navy flyer was on leave. He took me to an airfield that belonged to a friend of his in Long Island. When I smelled the smoke and fumes from the aircraft, I knew what I wanted to do in life. I feel that I have been blessed to do the two things in life I love and make some money at it.
