
About the Author
Cary Black has worked professionally as a materials scientist, chemist and engineer for over 19 years. In his tenure as a scientist, Mr. Black has worked for the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research, the Dow Chemical Company, Gold Star Coatings, SC Johnson Wax, and Duro-Last Roofing.
Cary founded Red Owl Publications, LLC in 2004 (www.redowlpublications.com) to publish his book, Zen and the Art of Cooking Beer-Can Chicken. Recently the book was re-released with a new cover. It is beginning to enjoy national prominence as the definitive guide to cooking poultry using the “infusion” method.
Cary is in the final stages of writing his next work called Tales of Katrina: A Freight Train Screamin’ scheduled for release in the early 2009. The book tells the individual stories of victims, rescuers, heroes and villains. All of whom found themselves in the middle of the most extreme natural disaster this country has known. Cary is producing a DVD to be co-released with the book containing never-before-seen video footage and interviews of people who experienced the hurricane.
Cary has played music professionally and semi-professionally for over 30 years. He is an avid guitarist and keyboardist, and spends as much time as possible working with the band No Regrets, a classic rock/original-based band. No Regrets released their first CD, Katrina Tales in April of 2007 as a preview to the Katrina soundtrack. Their second CD, It Is What It Is!!! was released in June of 2008. The third CD, Katrina Tales: Out of the Storms was released in August of 2008 as the final Katrina soundtrack for the DVD. Additionally, Cary has studied Taekwondo for 24 years and continues to training, time permitting.
